One of our clients are looking for a multiple National Account Manager to join their rapidly expanding team.

Reporting Structure

The Education National Account Manager reports directly into the National Accounts Director.

Job Purpose

The main focus for the Education National Account Manager is;

- To ensure the company delivers on its contractual agreements to its clients

- To retain the client contract

- To ensure the contract achieves its budget as a minimum

- To grow new categories with the client


Key Tasks

• To take responsibility for collaborating with clients on their 5-year role map with my client and ensuring delivery

• To be responsible for innovation both in terms of new products to market and digital innovation to ensure they are at the forefront

• To ensure the company maintains and grows its direct deals in partnership with clients and Parent Company

• To proactively engage and collaborate with suppliers and the companies parent company to ensure key clients benefit from added value and new product development (NPD).

• To support key clients with their environmental social governance (ESG) roadmap

• To establish productive professional relationship with all key stakeholders aligned with the client account

• To ensure the company fulfils its legal obligations relating to the client contract

• To schedule and attend monthly 121s and quarterly business reviews with the client and its stakeholders to review progress, including KPIs, SLA’s, etc.

• To ensure written follow-up is provided with relevant actions following on from client communications

• To obtain client feedback

• To utilise opportunity to grow relationship and business of the client

• To ensure you work proactively with the customer service team to ensure that the team deliver the best possible service to the client and contract

• To personally manage any critical issues for the client

• To positively negotiate price changes on behalf of the Company with the client

• To ensure the clients price file is conscientiously managed by working with the purchasing function and BI

• To utilise the Company CRM system

• To identify root causes of issues and queries and work to proactively resolve

• To work proactively to identify new business opportunities with existing clients

• Acting as a Company ambassador

• Responsible for client hospitality and attending events outside of core working hours to develop a positive business relationship

• Undertaking self-learning, as well as attending & completing relevant training courses

• Attend weekly sales meetings

• Providing business updates

• Making sure agreed targets met

• Working towards agreed KPI’s to be agreed by the National Accounts Director

• Any other ad-hoc tasks or responsibilities deemed necessary by the National Accounts Director

This role is highly client facing and will include extensive travel.


Key Skills

• Previous experience in a similar role & industry would be advantageous

• Proficiency with MS Office

• Stakeholder management

• Effective communication is key including verbal, written and listening skills

• Ensure urgency and accountability to meet deadlines

• Lead with integrity

• Commercial awareness and acumen

• Proven technical ability, advanced excel and data management skills

• Excellent interpersonal & negotiation skills

• Ability to communicate at all levels

• Attention to detail and accuracy of internal & external communications is paramount

• In-depth knowledge of the company products, systems, EDI, and processes

• High level of organisation, self-discipline and confident in using initiative and decision making

• Willing to adopt a flexible, hands on, common sense, “lead from the front”, “can do” approach

• High-energy, enthusiastic self-starter capable of autonomous working but also a “team player”

• Due to the nature of this role a flexible approach is required to ensure critical tasks are completed and project deadlines are met
