One of our clients are looking for a multiple Business Development Manager to join their rapidly expanding team.

Reporting Structure

The Business Development Manager reports directly into the Group Sales Director.

Job Purpose

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for working across a variety of campaigns across the education sector, motivating schools, academy groups and other education providers to want to engage & meet with the company in order to find and create new sales opportunities.

The Business Development Manager will also have responsibility for selling the related solution, by building superior value, overcoming concerns and gaining commitment from the prospect.


Key Tasks

Key tasks will include, but not be limited to the following:

• Lead generation and qualification of new business by targeting the education sector

• Managing pipeline

• Contract negotiations

• Closing sales

• Enabling and supporting other channels

• Supporting on Company bids & tenders

• System demonstrations & Company presentations

• Ensuring works to facilitate the companies gaining new client accounts by utilising all resources and tools available

• Responsibility for managing own time & calendar and taking a proactive approach by working independently, as well as working collaboratively as part of the wider team to increase the turnover of the Company

• Focussing on personal development and using own initiative to conduct relevant research and analysis

• Acting as a Company ambassador

• Undertaking self-learning, as well as attending & completing relevant training courses

• Attend weekly sales meetings

• Providing business updates

• Making sure agreed targets met

• Working towards agreed KPI’s to be agreed by the Group Sales Director

• Any other ad-hoc tasks or responsibilities deemed necessary by the Group Sales Director or Company

This role is highly client facing and will include extensive travel.


Key Skills

• Previous experience in a similar role with a proven track record of quantifiable sales generation within education

• Excellent sales skills and educational knowledge

• Relevant industry knowledge and experience would be advantageous

• Proficiency with MS Office

• Stakeholder management

• Effective communication is key including verbal, written, listening and presentation skills

• Results orientated, focussing on achievement against objectives, targets and KPIs

• Ensure urgency and accountability to meet deadlines

• Lead with integrity

• Commercial awareness and acumen

• Excellent interpersonal & negotiation skills

• Ability to communicate at all levels and influencing skills

• Ability to work well under pressure

• Attention to detail and accuracy of internal & external communications is paramount

• High level of organisation, self-discipline and confident in using initiative and decision making

• Willing to adopt a flexible, hands on, common sense, “lead from the front”, “can do” approach

• High-energy, enthusiastic self-starter capable of autonomous working but also a “team player”

• Due to the nature of this role a flexible approach is required to ensure critical tasks are completed and project deadlines are met
