One of our clients in Cardiff are recruiting for a Test Analyst to join their team on a 6 month Fixed Term Contract for maternity cover.
The test analyst will be involved in system analysis and design, test planning, test analysis, test design, test execution and incident management. This post requires extensive liaison with other staff in the IT department, end users, and communication and collaboration with external third party suppliers.
Contribute to the overall quality control function within the development project team by reviewing design documentation to ensure early detection of defects. Identify and report missing requirements and possible improvements to the development and testing processes.
·Preparation for testing
Following analysis of design and technical documentation, prepare all necessary test products in readiness for conducting formal system testing – to include the production of test specifications, the deployment of systems to the test environment and the set-up of any required software, hardware and data.
Execute system tests, record and analyse results and report incidents. Discuss potential cause and impact with developers and end users as appropriate to agree a course of action. Take ownership of incidents and track them through to resolution to ensure they are appropriately addressed.
·End user service
Attend and actively participate in meetings with end users, development staff and/or project team members to analyse, discuss and agree project requirements and scope, and maintain regular contact to ensure that products meet the business needs and deliver benefits to the organization.
Work with external vendors to ensure they are fully conversant with testing standards and deliverable expectations, including the use of testing tools.
·Support and regression testing
Work with the support team to test small fixes and change requests as required. Perform relevant regression testing to ensure no new bugs are introduced to live systems as a result of fixes and change requests.
Knowledge, skills and experience
·IT related degree or equivalent experience in an IT discipline.
·Proven business experience of software testing on numerous projects, including writing formal test documentation and executing test scripts.
·Relevant software testing certifications.
·Experience of maintaining a stable test environment to ensure test systems/data are fit for purpose.
·Ability to use technical data manipulation techniques including the use of SQL.
·Practical experience of development methodologies and ability to work effectively within a team.
·Excellent analytical skills and experience of analysing requirements and technical documentation to extract test conditions.
·Excellent problem-solving skills and a proven ability to use own initiative.
·Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Test automation experience useful but not essential.
